Organically Beautiful Fossil Vitra ~ creating contemporary fossils from the flora of British Columbia

My Fossil Vitra technique uses leaves from flowers, ferns and trees growing in British Columbia.  Once pressed to flatten and bring out their naturally-occurring veins and ridges, the leaves are coated with several layers of powdered glass.  They are then fired in the kiln under black glass and as they 'bake,' the leaves burn off, leaving only their stunning glass 'fossil' imprints on the black ba
