My Fossil Vitra technique uses leaves from flowers, ferns and trees growing on Vancouver Island. Once pressed to flatten and bring out their naturally- occurring veins and ridges, I coat them with several layers of powdered glass. The leaves are then fired in the kiln under black glass and as they 'bake,' the leaves burn off, leaving only their stunning glass imprint on the black base.
Platters, plates, coasters -- each one different in design, flora, and colour. All food safe!
